From today I am unemployed, so I have reviewed my schedule of tasks. They are as follows:

- Reissue our children’s certificates for medical‑expense subsidies.
- Change my National Pension status to that of a dependant under my wife.
- Defer receipt of my unemployment benefit until after my JOCV service.
- Transfer my company defined‑contribution pension into an iDeCo account.
<JOCV preparations>
- Submit my certificate of resignation and the application for reimbursement of vaccination costs.
- Purchase the items I will need for daily life in Malawi.
- Exchange yen for US dollars to cover my initial expenses in Malawi.
- Renew my driving licence ahead of schedule if necessary.
- Nominate my wife as my tax guardian.
- Cancel any credit cards I will not use.
- Suspend my Japanese My Number identity card.
- Remove my residence certificate (jūminhyō) from the local register.
Having drawn up this list, I realise there is a great deal to do, so I should check it carefully once more to ensure nothing is overlooked.
