My First Hospital Visit in Malawi

Day 86 – Life in Africa

Last night, I had a fever it was 38.0°C high. Then in this morning, it was 37.2°C. So I went to a hospital. It was first time in Malawi.
When I arrived there, first I told the receptionist about my name, birth of date, and nationality, and so on. Next, I moved to a vital signs room. Then a nurse measured my blood presser, height, weight, and temperature. After that, I moved to a consultation room and I saw a doctor. So the doctor told me to take a blood test and a malaria test. Next, I moved to payment counter and paid the test fee. Then I received the receipt and moved to laboratory. And I took these tests. And then I saw the doctor and received the results. Finally I moved to pharmacy counter and announced to pay the medicine fee at payment counter. Then I paid and brought the receipt to pharmacy counter. And then, I received the medicines. Therefore the system paying in advance was different from Japan, so I was really confused. But the resalts were not problems, it’s OK.

  • Blood and Malaria test: MK23,500
  • Medicines: MK24,000
