Discovering Natto: In Search of the Elusive African Natto – 008/100 –

Diary

I would like to introduce the book In Search of the Elusive African Natto.

I recently finished reading it and was surprised to learn that natto is not unique to Japan — it has been eaten in many parts of the world.
I also realised that natto has been used as an additional flavour-enhancing ingredient, similar to dashi in Japan, in other countries.

I was pleased to discover that my favourite food, natto — which I used to eat two or three packs of per day — is so widespread.

This book offers insights into how natto is consumed in countries such as those in West Africa and in Korea, and explains why it is popular in these regions.
Would you be interested in reading this book? I highly recommend it.
